TIKTOK: I am Beyond the Platform

In the past few months, I seldom update my social media accounts, especially on Facebook. I don’t post or give updates on my status or share funny quotes and memes where that is one of my sources of entertainment. But, I noticed that Facebook is becoming toxic day by day, and every day I usually get notified by other people’s posts regarding certain issues or an attack on a certain person. My pet peeves were that people who are posting nonsense on Facebook, those trolls that are fake news peddlers, Jam Magno’s absurd statements regarding Rabiya and her floppy political stand- it’s like a bun that has full of helium and not substantial, I cannot take it. It’s like a hard-rock material without life, just a heavy, burden in our country.

Furthermore, people who are sharing almost the whole story of their life on social media, I know it’s not my business but can they just keep it on their own. The world will know their stories and it’s kinda embarrassing for me if that happens to me. I would rather keep it on my own than seeking social attention where it doesn’t help, and cannot solve the problem at all. So I hibernate myself for a while and start not to update anything on Facebook to see what will happen and what kind of impact the social media detoxifying could give on me.

Social Media on other hand, since I lay low on Facebook for a while I have found this new source of entertainment. This platform is called Tiktok- this is a video sharing application wherein you post a 59 seconds video whether it is about tutorials or Inspirational messages. I met a lot of friends since I do also Tiktok, I shared voice-over challenge and radio Dj challenge which is considered as my content. Everyone is doing their best to entertain people they make creative contents that became viral and is also rampant on the other interlinked platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.

Tiktok on the other hand will also change the way you think and will create an impact regarding how you view life and the realm. Y'all people, you should know that Tiktok is not just a typical dance challenge, dubbing or lip-syncing it is beyond its platform. There you can find research advice, Corporate-related content, Medical-related content especially in terms of mental health, and a lot more. It's like all ingredients are inside the sealed tin or can. Imagine the struggle of those content creators to maximize the 59 seconds for them to elucidate and educate people to provide factual information. When you say "Brief but Concise" Tiktok is right for you. I would highly recommend it. Therefore, still, we cannot avert toxic users, they're rampant and they're everywhere disseminating false information and toxicity. It's just that we need to filter out who will appear in our "FOR YOU PAGE" section, who we are following does matter in Tiktok algorithms. If we allow toxic people to come into our perimeter chances are, they will keep on appearing in our for you page section but if we are following beneficial and substantial content then it will help our growth as an individual, and awareness of the surrounding.
However, On my media consumption, Even if I am more active on Tiktok watching inspirational videos and self-affirmation on how are we going to deal and drive the life that we deserved, it’s a portion of good food for my psychological aspects. We must care so much about our mental health- I am advocating it. Tiktok is way different from Facebook- Like I know most of the users will agree with me that in terms of self-gratification, information, and vocabulary...Tiktok can provide anything for you. So what are you waiting for? Download now the application and start sharing your thoughts, knowledge, and learnings. Don't be bitter if someone is doing Tiktok, why not just give it a try it doesn't lessen your personality and profession. I KNOW IT WILL BROADEN YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF PEOPLE.

Note: This blog is not sponsored by the above-mentioned application, I am just sharing my thoughts and experience about the app.
